Palermo After Dark

Theaters, concerts, puppet shows, and other things to do in the evenings in Palermo

I won't kid you: You just won't want to be hanging around after dark in many parts of Palermo—including most of the old center, especially the Kalsa, the Albergheria, and around the train station or first few blocks of Via Roma. (Once, simply waiting for the bus here, I received six offers from prostitutes, two for drugs, and two solicitations from guys who pulled over and winked.)

Still, many parts of the New City are perfectly safe, and Piazza Verdi and Piazza Castelnuovo and both generally full of people.

If all you want to do is kick back with a beer, head to Via Principe di Belmonte (between Via R. Settimo and Via Roma), a pedestrian strip lined with bars and cafes, many of which have outdoor seating in nice weather, a few with live pianists.
