Trattoria Anita in Florence.

From spicy penne to creamy ravioli, Anita will leave you satisfied all the way through the tiramisú

Bottles of wine march along a shelf around the room of this tiny, inexpensive trattoria near the Uffizi.

The choices on the lunchtime menu del giorno fixed-price menus are ample (you can pick from a half-dozen each of primi and secondi)—and the prices phenomenal: just €10–€13 for a first and a second course plus a side dish (drinks and cover are extra).

The crostini misti are respectable, and if you like scorching your taste buds, their penne alla carrettiera (pepperoncino-spiked tomato sauce) is one of the most piccante in town.

Calmer palates will enjoy the ravioli alla gorgonzola, in a rich, creamy cheese sauce.

Bucking the Tuscan penchant for overcooking any and all vegetables, they don't completely overcook the asparagus in the Lombatina agli asparagi, and if they've made up a tiramisù that day for dessert, pounce on it.
