Getting tourism info in Palermo

The Palermo tourism office is near the Politeama at Piazza Castelnuovo 34, on the west side of the square (tel. +39-091-605-8351, www.provincia.palermo.it/turismo). Alas, it is open only on weekdays, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 2pm and 2:30 to 6pm.

Other information desks:

• At the Palermo airport in the arrivals hall (tel. +39-091-591-698), open weekdays.
• At Via Maqueda 81, across from the Palazzo Comitini near the intersection with Via Divisi, about halfway up the main street from the train station north toward the center of town at Piazza Pretoria (tel. +39-091-662-8260 -or +39-091-662-8921), open weekdays.

In years when the city budget allows them to open, the info kiosks set up by the civic tourism authority (tel. +39-091-611-7887, www.comune.palermo.it) are useful. They are scattered around the city, open 9am to 1pm and 3 to 7pm (again, not every year):

• Stazione Centrale (train station)

• Porto (port)

• Piazza Bellini

• Piazza Marina

• Cattedrale (Cathedral)

• Via Cavour

• Politeama
