Pitarra ★★

A solidly Catalan restaurant in the Old City of Barcelona
Taking the nickname of Freceric Soler, the famous Catalán poet/playwright who once lived here, Pitarra has stuck largely to the Cataaln staples since 1890—traditional dishes cooked just like Mama used to do, escpecially is Mamma happened to be married to a hunter.
In winter, definitely go for a hearty game dish, such as hare with wild mushrooms of the cassola d'arròs caçador (a "hunter's rice casserole" enriched with a medley of partridge, wild rabbit, and squab). The Valencian paella is also quite good, as is the grilled squid.
