Barcelona in 3 days

How to see Barcelona in just three days

Spend Days 1–2 as outlined on the "Two Days in Barcelona" page.

For Day 3, get out of town and see some more of Catalonia.

Day trips are easiest to do on an escorted small-group tour (especially if you want to bag lots of little villages or wineries).

However, there are a few excellent sidetrips that are easy enough to arrange on your own using public transportation. My vote for the do-it-yourself crowd would be to spend a day among the excellent Roman ruins and small city atmosphere of Tarragonathough you might prefer a visit to the famous cliff-clinging pilgrimage chruch of Montserrat.

How long should I spend in Barcelona?

If you're just passing through, I'd give Barcelona at least two full days.

It is a lovely place to relax, however, so you might be happier spending 3-4 days.

Get a sightseeing / transport pass

Barcelona has two types of sightseeing/transport passes:

There's a full description of both passes here, but in brief: The only museum covered fully by the Museum Pass that is not also covered by the Barcelona Card is the Museu Picasso (where you get only a 20% discount with the Barcelona Card).

You can also get discounts (usually 10% to 20%) on a wide range of sights, activites, and shows if you have a hop-on/hop-off bus ticket.
